    Net Metering (NEM)

    Utility: This is used when you are Parallel with the utility. This means you sell back to the grid or charge your system with the utility.

    Off-Grid (No Utility)

    Off-grid: is a miss-used word. There are many types of uses for off-grid. The most common is when Utility isn’t available at a site or location.

    Stand-Alone

    Stand-Alone: Utility is Present but not used; this is also called a Non-Net Metered system as the system is set up not to use the Utility unless the system fails.

    UES

    UES: Uninterrupted Energy System. This is when your Energy Storage system is sized correctly and you are self-sustaining. The most common is with solar PV and Energy Storage.
